Good afternoon. Today is another beautiful opportunity to be in Community. What your Community consists of is completely up to you. Do something for yourself today to reset your week, even if you work today. What is one thing you can do to reset, even those of you working today ? Today’s Word of the Day is Resist. What does Resist mean to you ? Is choosing to resist or not positive or negative? Why would you choose to Resist something? Is resisting something possibly the wrong choice? What is one thing in your life you have been resisting that makes you question if resisting to do XZY is the wrong choice? If you answered that question with a yes what can you do today to start the process of embracing it ? Are we tempted with beyond what we can resist?
“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”
I Corinthians 10:13 NKJV
Is resisting truly a choice? If we choose to resist something good for us will we be rerouted? If we choose something we were meant to resist will we be rerouted? How many times have we found ourselves at same stop sign even if the color isn’t identical? Are we meant to resist evil in people? Before you answer that Boundaries are more than ok.
“But I say to you, do not resist an evil person [who insults you or violates your rights]; but whoever slaps you on the right cheek, turn the other toward him also [simply ignore insignificant insults or trivial losses and do not bother to retaliate—maintain your dignity, your self-respect, your poise].”
Matthew 5:39 AMP
Enjoy your Beautiful Blessed Day. Plug into Community if you haven’t already. Who can you reach out to open door to your Community? Whose door can you go to for access to a Community if you aren’t currently engaged in one ? To Resist or not is ultimately a choice that will given to us and not forced upon us even if we make the wrong choice. Love you . Love Each Other. Embrace Community. Run to the Uncomfortable.
My first question to myself after reading this is what is the difference between turning the other cheek, and standing for what you think is right, or planting seeds to help change. Turning the Other Cheek, I think is about personal conduct in the face of wrongs done to you. It’s an act of humility, choosing not to escalate a situation by retaliating. It doesn’t mean passively accepting abuse or injustice in every situation but rather choosing a response that breaks the cycle of violence. This is a very important to me ATM. But balancing it with also helping provoke change and teaching/healing?
This involves actively working against evil or injustice in the world. It may require speaking out, taking action, and sometimes confronting wrongdoers. The key difference is that provoking change is not about personal retaliation but about addressing broader issues of evil and injustice. This can be done in ways that are firm, assertive, and even confrontational, but still rooted in love and the desire for redemption, not vengeance.
Than I asked myself how do I balancing the two?
In practice, turning the other cheek can be seen as a way to disarm an aggressor or to take a stand that reveals the injustice of their actions without resorting to the same tactics. Meanwhile, provoking change involves a more proactive stance against systemic evil, where the goal is not just to endure but to transform.
From what I’ve learned in my experiences, the teaching invites people, with their higher power, to consider how they can respond to evil in ways that align with the values of the our G-d, through love, humility, and a commitment to justice, without falling into the traps of hatred and revenge!
Love you!
